Emma attended the University of Limerick, graduating in 2001 with an LLB (Honours) Degree in Law and European Studies.  She qualified as a Solicitor in February 2006. Since qualifying, Emma was conferred with a Diploma in Family Law from the Law Society of Ireland. Emma has worked in the firm of William Fry Solicitors, Dublin and prior to joining the firm Sheehan & Co. Solicitors, Emma worked with one of Galway’s leading law firms Lewis C. Doyle & Co. Solicitors.

 

Emma has particular expertise in Family Law matters. Family law disputes tend to be a very traumatic experience for clients and Emma recognises the importance of bringing the necessary sensitivity to what can be a very delicate and sensitive time for all parties involved.  Emma provides specialist advice on the following:

 

  • Preparation and negotiation of Separation Agreements

  • Applications for Judicial Separation and ancillary reliefs

  • Applications for Divorce and ancillary reliefs

  • Applications for Nullity

  • Applications in relation to maintenance, guardianship, custody and access

Emma is also an advocate of Collaborative Law and is a member of the Galway Collaborative Law Practitioners. Collaborative Law is an alternative dispute resolution in family law matters and is a new option for separating or divorcing couples to resolve disputes respectfully and fairly without going to court. Emma also has extensive experience in general practice principally advising clients in the areas of residential conveyancing, personal injuries litigation, wills and probate matters. Emma also deals with Debt Collection issues for both business and private clients.
